The REC Rooms comedy night returns for October with the following line up:
 
Opening – James Dowdeswell
 
is a stand-up comedian and actor, best known for playing the character of Count Fuckula in the BBC television programme Extras.
 
James is also a published author. He wrote ‘The Pub Manifesto: A Comedian Stands Up For Pubs’ which was published by CAMRA Books in November 2018.
 
Middle – Rory O’Hanlon
 
Having started his career in Dublin, award winning Irish stand-up comedian and actor Rory O’ Hanlon is a firm favourite at comedy clubs across the UK and Ireland. Described by Chortle as having “presence, poise and timing” and by the Irish Times as having “a joke every 30 seconds”, his rapid fire delivery regularly has audiences crying with laughter.
 
A regular face on Irish TV, Rory has been seen on RTE’s New Comedy Awards, Republic of Telly and alongside Des Bishop in Under the Influence. He is also a veteran of stage performing with 7 consecutive solo shows at Edinburgh Fringe, including performing at in The Stand’s ‘Best of Irish’ show, as well as recent appearances at both Glasgow and Cardiff Comedy Festivals.
 
Rory is also known internationally, having performed all over the world, from Moscow to Berlin, Monte Carlo to Brussels, and many places in between. 2016 will see Rory heading off to Australia, where he will be performing at the prestigious Perth Comedy Festival.
 
In addition to performing stand-up, Rory is also a prolific writer, having contributed to the Irish Post, Chortle and Hot Press magazine, and has recently starred in the short film Spring Clean, which reached the final of the 2013 Virgin Short Film Awards
 
Closing – Jonny Awsum
 
Jonny, who lives with his wife and two children, is known for his feel-good musical comedy, which has seen him quickly rise from newcomer to sought-after headline act. After spending eight years as a barman at London’s Chuckle Club, Jonny was inspired to enter the comedy world, and hasn’t looked back since.
 
Jonny has performed over 1,000 shows all over the world, from Slovakia to Hong Kong. He has appeared at festivals including Henley Festival and Download, and is the current patron of the Derby Comedy Festival.
 
Compere – Mike Sheer
 
Mike Sheer made his stand-up debut at a joke competition in 1985, ‘defeating the other children and winning the first prize of a dollar bill’. He deals out colourful stories and strange truths with humour that jumps from light to dark. Mike is also a comic book writer, published short story writer, amateur film-maker, rapper, and actor. Originally from Toronto, Mike has shared his thoughts at clubs, pubs, events, and festivals in Australia, Canada, United States, and the UK.
