Since their formation in 2012, the band have worked at some top venues, including: The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire, South Lodge in West Sussex; Shocktoberfest (their resident band for several years), Chelsea Football Club, London, and even in Africa (Lagos Yacht Club) and hotels in The Far East! Talented award-winning writer and stand-up, Mark Maier, is an established and highly sought after performer on both the national and international comedy circuits. He has worked the comedy clubs of Germany, Holland, Ireland, Hong Kong, The Bahamas, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and has also appeared at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and Caroline’s in New York. Amongst his many credits, Mark has taught and performed improvisation with Catherine Tate in London and has had a string of successful radio series, in which he was both writer and performer.

Heartland, Country, Rock? Call them whatever you want them to be. From the heart of London, Backwoods Creek bring something most others shy away from. Unashamedly ready to make you sing, laugh and cry, this quintet is picking up the pieces and putting them back together, one show at a time.

Starting out in late 2016, The Creek have been blazing their own unique trail playing shows ranging from a sold out night at The Jazz Cafe, to the Teddy Rocks Festival, to 2 venue-filled slots at AEG's Country2Country Festival.

2018 saw The Creek Boys release 2 top 5 charting singles, 'Keep Off The Grass' & 'When I Grow Up', the latter winning BCMA's video of the year award; only to follow up with their debut EP 'It's About Time', the band are well on their way to world domination. 

Make sure to get yourself to a show, you'll definitely feel it in the morning!

Support for the evening will be Emily Faye....who with the help of her bandmates and the relentless support of her family, has successfully begun to make her mark within the ever-changing industry and is now in demand as one of the UK's most exciting new country artists. Having travelled to the home of country music - Nashville, Tennessee - last year to record her debut EP 'Here I Am' released in April 2018, and named as one of Rolling Stone Country's 'Top Ten Artists You Need To Know' at the end of 2017, Emily Faye is certainly a name to look out for.

He looks and sounds so strikingly like his old man, so much so that one of his dads former sidemen said” it’s like watching a ghost in the flesh” Mud Morganfield is a multi-award winning artist and an established star in the world of Blues music and was brought up surrounded by many of the finest musicians in the Blues. Mud’s singing is firmly in the best of traditions of Chicago blues, and he is backed by some of the best musicians playing today. His big, powerful voice conveys deep emotional resonance on the slow numbers and good old fashioned testosterone-laden strut on those classic shuffles. He is acclaimed by both critics and artists such as Buddy Guy and Jools Holland for his own musical ability. Mud’s latest album, They Call Me Mud, was released in March 2018 and is getting extensive airplay and great reviews. These London based boys have recently supported The Dualers and Don Letts and played Skamouth in April this year, which led them to be invited (by Neville and Christine ‘Sugary’ Staple no less!) to play The 2-Tone Village in Coventry. History Of House

They're back at The REC Rooms after an amazing session in 2018 History of House are a live band that recreate some the funkiest dance anthems from the 90's to today. Mixing feel good vibes and infectious beats from artist's like Bassment Jaxx, Mousse T, Crystal Waters and Daft Punk. Brighton based funkers who will get you moving with smooth vocals from Jody Findley and Tobias Ratcliffe backed by a class band. Some will have seen them at The Rec Rooms before and those that did know just how good they are. This terrific band are no strangers to huge gigs and festivals and will have you up and dancing for sure!

Corduroy

The fantastic Corduroy are coming to The Rec Rooms.
 
Corduroy are a four-piece acid jazz outfit based in London, formed around twins Ben Addison (drums/vocals) and Scott Addison (keyboards/vocals), who were previously in Sire Records act Boys Wonder (Scott had been guitarist with Boys Wonder, while Ben had been the lead vocalist).[1] Joining the twins in the band are Richard Searle and guitarist Simon Nelson-Smith. Searle had been bass player with Doctor and the Medics, who topped the UK Singles Chart in 1986 with a cover version of "Spirit in the Sky". Searle had joined the Addison twins in the final incarnation of Boys Wonder, before the band gradually evolved into Corduroy in 1991, initially forming for a one-off New Year's Eve party.

Grace Nichols has written widely for both adults and children. Her first collection of poetry, I Is A Long-Memoried Woman won the 1983 Commonwealth Poetry Prize. Among her other books are the popular The Fat Black Woman’s Poems, Sunris - winner of the Guyana Poetry Prize, I Have Crossed an Ocean and Picasso, I Want My Face Back, inspired by her residency at the Tate Gallery, London 1999 -2000. She is among the poets on the current GCSE syllabus and received the Cholmondeley Award in 2000, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Hull. Her latest adult book is The Insomnia Poems (Bloodaxe 2017).
